Background and Focus

We intend to fund 8 graduate fellowships, starting September 1, 2025 with funding for the 9-month academic year 2025-2026.  

Topic Areas

The GE Vernova Fellowships provide support to graduate students (Masters and PhD) who are conducting innovative research related to energy, with particular emphasis placed on the GE Vernova flagship areas of decarbonization, electrification, renewables acceleration, or digital infrastructure. Graduate students conducting research related to these fields are encouraged to apply. 

Application Requirements

• Fellowships will provide nine-month academic year support
• Eligibility: Graduate students in the second year or later of the graduate program (SM with research experience or PhD)
• Each nomination should include:
  • A statement (no more than one page) written by the nominated student highlighting their prior research, ongoing or planned work to be conducted over the course of the fellowship if awarded, and tentative future career plans, relevant to GE Vernova topics of interest
  • The nominee’s CV
  • A letter of recommendation from the nominee’s research advisor

Department heads should request information from graduate students working in these areas and submit nominations of their most competitive applicants by July 16^th.

Nomination Deadline

Department Heads should establish an internal process to solicit nominations from their Department and submit nominations of the most competitive applicants to this portal no later than 5pm on July 16th, 2025. An email was sent to Department Heads and Deans indicating the number of nominations to submit per unit.
